VMware App Volumes snapvol.cfg File to Customize Writable Volume

The snapvol.cfg configuration file is located in the root folder of each individual writable volume. You can see in root directory with show hidden folders. This file contains information such as what should be captured and not captured on the writable volume for a user-installed application or user data.

Snapvol.cfg file only capture system C drive and also capturing registry locations.

This configuration file allows you to virtualize path and default is set to virtualize full C: drive

########################################################

File system

#######################################################

 Virtualize_path=\

 We have some special requirement to virtualize one folder in C only, there are two different options: first you include full C drive and exclude all other folders and with group policy control that user can’t create folder under C Drive to save the Writable stack. Second you can change the virtualize path one folder only

 ######################################################## File system Customize

########################################################

 Virtualize_path=\Test

Virtualize_to=\SVROOT\Test

 Similarly, you can change registry locations as well as per requirement and structure of Snapvol.cfg. I will explain more in next post soon.
